Sanaz Hanasab's journey into dentistry is rooted in resilience, education, and a lifelong commitment to helping others. Her parents immigrated to the United States after political changes in their home country forced them to leave their lives behind. Growing up, Sanaz was taught that education was the one thing no government or circumstance could ever take away. That lesson shaped her future.
Her greatest inspiration was her mother—a successful businesswoman who pursued higher education in Iran during a time when women were rarely encouraged to attend college or build careers. Watching her mother break barriers instilled in Sanaz the belief that determination and education could open any door.
Sanaz discovered her passion for dentistry during a summer job at an orthodontic office. What began as filing charts quickly turned into a life-changing moment when she was asked to assist chairside during a procedure. From that day forward, she knew dentistry was where she belonged.
She went on to attend New York University, where she was accepted into the prestigious Dental Hygiene Program. While studying, Sanaz pushed herself even further by completing a dual program and earning her teaching license in dental hygiene, combining clinical excellence with education.
After returning to California, Sanaz began teaching at the University of Southern California (USC) while practicing in private practice—sharing her knowledge with the next generation of dental professionals.
Soon after, she married her longtime friend Dr. Homan Hanasab, who was completing his Periodontics specialty training at Boston University. Their shared passion for dentistry and patient care led them to build something special together: their own dental practice.
Over the years, that vision grew into two successful practices, built on the belief that prevention, education, and advanced technology create the healthiest outcomes for patients.
With over 23 years of experience, Sanaz is known for her dedication to patient education and her commitment to staying at the forefront of dentistry. She regularly attends advanced lectures and continuing education courses and has become highly experienced in laser-assisted dental treatments, helping patients receive more comfortable and effective care.
Sanaz also believes strongly in empowering the hygienists she mentors. Her philosophy is simple: when hygienists are confident, educated, and proactive, they can help patients maintain lifelong periodontal health.
Today, Sanaz balances her roles as a clinician, educator, practice leader, and mother of four. Despite her busy life running two dental offices, her mission remains the same as the day she first stepped into dentistry—to help every patient leave healthier, more confident, and smiling.
