LA Clippers Dentist

Here at American Dental Group, we have the special honor of working with Dr. Homan Hanasab, the team dentist of the LA Clippers.

What does being the dentist of a professional sports team look like? It means that Dr. Homan is either present at every Clippers home game, or makes arrangements for someone else to be there. That’s about 41 games per year! Dr. Homan is responsible for treating dental emergencies for both the home and visiting teams, plus referees. He keeps an emergency kit in the trainer’s room and can treat patients at his office as well.

During the pre-season and off-season, Dr. Homan sees as many players as possible for routine exams. If a dental issue arises during the season, like the need for a tooth extraction, Dr. Homan and the player will decide together whether to address the issue immediately or wait until the season is over.

Dr. Homan also fits as many players as possible with custom-made mouthguards: highly recommended for professional and amateur athletes alike. Not all players are willing to wear mouthguards, but for the rest, Dr. Homan can take impressions of the players’ teeth in the training room, one after the other, and do the final fittings just before games.

Being a professional sports dentist is a challenging job. Regular office hours don’t apply, and it’s a significant time commitment.
